This year we were honored to be invited to help partake in the magic of the holidays by creating a festive entry for McCaw Hall to celebrate the Pacific Northwest Ballet's The Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker is a longstanding tradition for the Pacific Northwest Ballet, and one that Seattleites have come to look forward to each and every year. Until 2014, it had been decorated by the whimsical designs of beloved children's author and illustrator, Maurice Sendak. Prior to the change in 2015, PNB performed the production under Aritistic Directors Kent Stowell and Francia Russell beginning 1983. As stated by the PNB themselves, "The Stowell and Sendak Nutcracker contributed significantly to the Company’s identity, holding the stage for 32 seasons."
We were asked to help decorate the production by creating some of the window decals for the glass doors and windows of McCaw Hall, and we couldn't wait to get started. The job ended up being approximately 150 feet, and, as you can in the photo on the right, our wide format printer was able to take it on with just 3 inches to spare! Installing it also took quite a bit of time, with multiple doors and windows to cover. We had to be very precise in the application and ensure that it would last through the season.
We are so happy with the way that it turned out and can't wait to see what else is in store this holiday season!
